I remember reading an article whilst I was browsing websites called “Offline or Online?”
I was surprised someone would write an article like this because I would’ve thought that the obvious answer was that an offline life was more desirable then an online one, but apparently not.

This really confused me. Because if you didn’t have an offline life, then how could you have an online one?
Because in your offline life, you have to have a computer to have the Internet, and thus, to go online. You also have to go to school, and at school you learn to read and write and do maths and whatever else they feel we ought to learn.

So if you didn’t have an offline life, you wouldn’t know how to write your points of view, let alone read other people’s. So then if no one had an offline life, there wouldn’t be an online world because no-one offline would have created it or their websites.

No one would be able to blog, make PHP Scripts or web pages, type in a URL or even spell “Google”.
In fact, without an offline life, you wouldn’t really exist, would you? And you wouldn’t know any of your qualities or hobbies. You wouldn’t know who you were. Maybe you wouldn’t even have a name.

So without that, you wouldn’t have any opinions to write in a blog or article or to give in a review. And you would have no creativity or eye for colour when making a graphic.
Maybe what this person meant was that they preffered going online then being offline. Sure, we all like going on the computer and blogging and whatnot. But would you really want to stay online all day and trap yourself in a world created by everyone else offline?

Isn’t the online world influenced by the offline world? People blog about things that have happened offline. They talk about issues in our world that happened offline.
And would you really rate a box that has Internet above your offline life? Above your family, your friends, going to school or work, having a boyfriend/ girlfriend, above living in the world?

Because the world isn’t perfect, but it’s pretty damned amazing. There’s people to meet, sights to see, things to learn. You’re never too old to learn.
So is an online life really better? Because the computer probably wouldn’t've been invented if someone offline hadn’t decided to make it.

And the online world is still like the offline one in many ways – it’s got drama, it’s got people. But it’s not as special as the real world. It’s like an extra to our world; another place to go to when we want. But why rely on it one-hundred percent, or rate it above your life?

What do you think about the “Offline vs Online” topic?
