I’m sure many of you have heard of the inspirational website GivesMeHope and probably LoveGivesMeHope too.

I love both of these websites because it is so amazing to see how people get through tough situations no matter what, or just knowing that there are people out there doing things to make other people feel better. It makes me feel better knowing that despite tough circumstances such as abuse, rape and self-harm people perform such kind, selfless (and often cute) acts for others. People who go through these hard times then are given hope, and hope is a beautiful thing.

Hope is something we have all felt in our lives, whether it is for wanting to come first in that competition or for someone to get better. I know that I wish for one of my friends each day as she is suffering from depression and has braved many obstacles within it. You may wonder what this wish is, and it is simple: I wish that she is happy, wherever she is and whatever she is doing. I wish that she is happy because she deserves to be. If she knew about my wish, surely that would give her hope. And hope can give one strength, and strength can give one the power to fight, and when one can fight, one can overcome their obstacles.

Here is one of my favourites from the thousands on the site:

Today, I saw a little kid putting pennies in random spots on the hallway floor of the school I work at.

I asked him why he was doing that, and he said he was putting the pennies heads up so that other kids would find them and have good luck today.

Kids like him GMH.

Whenever I am feeling down for whatever reason, I load either website and read through several posts. It is sites like these that are probably one of my driving inspirations. Sometimes we do not realise what people have to face each day, or how much determination we can have; just like sometimes we do not realise just what love will bring people to do for us until we have heard of these things for ourselves.
I remember reading one post which mentioned that a girl wanted her boyfriend to stay with her during the night because she thought she had been followed that day. Her boyfriend stayed, and that night an intruder burst into her flat. He got shot in the chest protecting her.
They both survived.

As I have often mentioned I am not fond of today’s society because of discrimination and the amount of violence and abuse there is about. But knowing that there people out there still continue to be selfless, brave and even in their dark moments have strength… well, it gives me hope.
