An I.E Fanlisting?!
This was a past blog, but people said it should be an article. ^^
Whilst browsing TheFanlistings.org, I came across a fanlisting for Internet Explorer, and it made my jaw drop.
There are 50 reasons why there should not be a fanlisting for Internet Explorer:
It is hated by pretty much everyone.
 What’s to like?
Firefox thought of the tabs first.
 It doesn’t show favicons.
It makes the font Lucidia Sans look horrible when used in a layout.
It doubles margins on floats, e.g layout divs, and will do so until display: inline is added to the div.
It reads CSS in a very dodgy way, with a wild percentage of mistakes.
We all go out of our way to make our sites look okay in it, if we don’t use it.
 It freezes and crashes non-stop.
It is as slow as my brother is at picking up jokes. In short—a sloth.
It has no swish plugins like Firefox.
It doesn’t have Twitterfox, or anything as cool as that.
 You can’t change the theme.
You can’t delete private data, like passwords and credit card numbers. Firefox can.
The logo? Err, it’s so tacky.
It doesn’t support a lot of CSS 3 selectors.
It doesn’t support rounded corners applied with CSS.
When you ask Google why it crashes all the time, you get 2.57 million results.
It supports the use of coloured scrollbars. What’s wrong with the default one?
Codes for coloured scrollbars are invalid.
 So it supports invalid codes.
When you install it, you have to restart your computer, close major programs…
When you install Firefox, you only need to close the old version of Firefox.
It has a lot of bugs.
If you design your site in I.E, there is a big chance it will look awful in Firefox and the other browsers, because I.E doesn’t follow the ‘rules’ of the Internet. We need these rules because otherwise, how would the Internet work?
When it crashes, you lose your data. Firefox can restore it for you.
Firefox can save your tabs for the next time you load it. I.E can’t.
Firefox can reload all tabs at once. I.E can’t.
What sort of name is ‘Internet Explorer’? If Microsoft sold loo paper they’d sell it as ‘butt wiper’.
In August 2004, three browsers were tracked and ‘unsafe days’ recorded. 98% of the time, I.E was unsafe.
Firefox was unsafe 7% of the time for Windows users, 15% for Macs because of a little glitch.
Opera was unsafe 17% of the time.
With all the scripting and the way it interrogates your system, it is way more prone to attacks and viruses.
The people who designed Internet Explorer knew they were turning their back on the standards of the Internet, whereas the creators of the other browsers have followed them.
 It doesn’t support transparent .PNGs.
Because it’s a default browser for most Window computers, people feel they have to use it.
Most I.E users think it’s amazing when it’s not; they just haven’t tried any other browsers.
It won’t load sites is some Javascript is found in the <body> tags.
Because Firefox is open-sourced, anyone can report problems, which means…
There are only 9 days out of the year when users are under threat from codes…
… Before Mozilla fix the problem.
There are 284 days a year when an I.E user is at risk.
It takes longer to read pages than other browsers—why it’s so slow.
One line of code can crash IE 6. It is here.
That line of code is an infinite loop. I.E doesn’t support these.
If you click here and you use I.E, you will probably be forced to restart your computer due to the fact the browser has trouble loading an image with massive dimensions. Any other browser will load the page properly.
Other browsers will not let any links on this page get the better of them… except I.E.
When you download things, you get a pop-up informing you of a download. Firefox puts all the downloads together, and you can also make sure that the downloads window doesn’t appear when you download something.
In IE7, the search box in the top right is taken from Firefox.
 It is shit, period.
Everyone agrees!
Have I convinced you yet? I suggest that you get Firefox. It's better for webdesigning, as it reads pages properly; it's neater, cleaner, faster and easier.
